Partickhill

The opening of the Argyle Line in 1979 brought a new interchange station called Partick, with Partickhill closed the previous day. At least that was the theory, though I believe Partick wasn't ready in time and Partickhill continued to be used for some months. They are not very far apart, as proved by the fact that this photograph was taken from Partick station, but the new station gave easier access to Partick Subway station which is on the same side of Dumbarton Road. The platform buildings of the closed station, complete with namesigns, remained in place for some years after closure and the platforms are there even now. 320312 passes them on 16 June with an Airdrie service.
