Thornton Shed [2nd]
Sunshine and steam in the shed yard at Thornton Junction in the 1960s. J38 no 65911 takes centre stage with Austerity 90444 standing over on the left. Both were Thornton locomotives and both were withdrawn in the first quarter of 1967, just before the official closure to steam of 62A itself. Beyond the coaling plant in the right background the curved roof of The snake pit can be seen see image 23695.
