Gateshead East

With the wooden platforms of Gateshead East station (closed 1981) in the centre and the north end of the Tyne Bridge in the background, an unidentified A4 Pacific brings a train off the High Level Bridge in the 1960s. The train has taken the right fork at High Level South Junction which will route it through Gateshead West station (closed 1965) and along the southern perimeter of Gateshead MPD to join the up ECML coming off the King Edward Bridge.
