Coppull
4 and 5 car Voyager sets head north at Coppull between Wigan and
Preston on 16 July 2010. The photograph is taken looking through the fence where a public footpath crosses the line with the assistance of a footbridge. The WCML used to be 4 track here for a further two miles to the south to Standish Junction. It was reduced to two tracks up to Balshaw Lane Junction following electrification in the 1970s.
