The large expanse of railway sidings that serviced Blackpool Central station until 1964 had long been known as Europe's largest car park, but in recent years has been improved and landscaped. This picture looks towards Central at the point where Bloomfield Road sidings were situated. The traffic lights mark the site of the former Bloomfield Road bridge that spanned the tracks and was only removed a few years ago. The white building is the home of Blackpool Football Club, back in the top flight in 2010/11 for the first time since 1971. See image 30063 for a direct Then and Now comparison at the same location half a century earlier.
