A Budd railcar draws into the modest Victoria (Vancouver Island) terminus of the Esquimalt & Nanaimo Railway in 1994. At the time the rudimentary passenger service was being operated by VIA Rail - headquartered 2,000 miles to the east - and marketing was at a very low ebb. There have been a number of changes in ownership and management of the railway in the intervening years, and it still survives.
