There is a three-platform terminus on either side of the Firth of
Clyde, but the contrast between Helensburgh Central and Gourock is
marked. The former is smartly turned out with a lively air, whereas
Gourock, although it sees more trains, is - well see for yourself in this photograph taken from the concourse on 1 September 2010. There is no glazing in the platform canopies, and the building is unoccupied with the ticket office etc in Portakabins (TM) outside. Happily though an impressive new permanent ticket office nears completion and the platform area is due for a makeover in 2011.
