Photograph taken from the window of a train arriving from the north in bay platform 8 at Carlisle station. Stanier Pacific no 46221 Queen Elizabeth is standing at plaform 7. The date is thought to be around 1957, prior to the removal of the station's (by then less than attractive) end screens and the cutting back of the overall roof.
