Coatbridge Central

When the platform buildings at Coatbridge Central were demolished
about 40 years ago this structure was somehow overlooked and has
survived to be photographed on 16 October 2010.  At platform level it looks like it might have been a toilet, but it reaches down to street level and toilets are not usually multi-storey...  Meanwhile, round the corner, the disused 1889 station building, most recently a pub see image 26255, suffered a serious fire in July.  There were already calls for its demolition by those who considered it an eyesore so it's future is uncertain to say the least.
