Eastleigh Shed
USA 0-6-0T no DS233 (formerly 30061) stands on Eastleigh shed in April 1967 carrying its departmental number along with the words 'Engineers Dept.' Following many years working at Southampton Docks, 30061 was one of 6 of the class renumbered and reallocated to departmental duties, in this case at Redbridge sleeper depot. The locomotive is seen here following final withdrawal awaiting disposal, which occurred 3 months later via Messrs Cashmore, Newport. It is buffered up to the tender of BR Standard 4 76063 which also followed the same route for scrapping. See image 75846.
