With the yawning, crumpled-looking passengers sent on their way, 90 024 is on the point of pulling out of Waverley's Platform 9 on 20 November with the empty stock of the Caledonian Sleeper from Euston. The current platforms 8 and 9 originally formed a separate station serving the grandly-named Edinburgh Suburban and South Side Junction Railway's trains. Even today that wall makes it feel like you are somewhere else, away from the hubbub of the main station. The awning here is due for a makeover as part of the station's long refurbishment programme.
