Twenty-six years ago, but a totem was already a rarity worthy of a
photograph. Hardly surprising when the image was supposed to have been consigned to history 20 years before that. There was just the one left at West Calder in May 1984: I suspect the only reason it was still there was that on removal day they hadn't brought a ladder long enough. I believe the few remaining totems in Scotland were gone by the end of that year. The building in the background is the now demolished eastbound waiting room see image 20611.
