Stirling

The morning of Monday December 6th 2010 saw all forms of transport in Central Scotland seriously disrupted through a combination of heavy snow and plunging temperatures. This photo was taken at Stirling on that day when conditions were rapidly deteriorating and almost all services were being either cancelled or abandoned. An exception was the 9.51 Alloa to Glasgow Queen Street, shown here battling through to collect passengers prepared to face an uncertain future. What Class 156 DMUs lack in style and comfort, they make up for in ruggedness, weight and endurance, and this unit managed to take on the weather and get through to its destination.
