Wearmouth Colliery
Looking towards the extensive Wearmouth Colliery, standing alongside the River Wear, approximately 2 years before official closure in 1993. The abandoned site was later cleared to make way for the 50,000 seat 'Stadium of Light', the current home of Sunderland FC, opened in 1997. See image 36341 Wearmouth Coal Company
