Under all the undergrowth the Shieldhall Goods Branch was still in place in 1987. This branch served several goods yards and the Alexander Stephens Shipyard at Linthouse. The branch was the genesis of the Glasgow and Renfrew District Railway which branched from it near Cardonald. The view looks to Cardonald from Renfrew Road bridge with part of the Govan sewage works on the left.
