This is Kalterherberg station in Belgium. The red light marks the German border. The line ran through Germany but was Belgian territory, thus bits of Germany ('exclaves') were technically cut off from that country. All this area was once Germany until the two World Wars hence this bizarre situation which, although the track has largely been lifted, continues to this day by agreement between the two countries. (Although there was no traffic when we were there in 1989, there were some tourist trains apparently run later, but by 2001 they had ceased.)
