The eastern end of the Carse of Gowrie in 1908 as seen on an OS Third Edition One Inch map. The minor line running between Inchture station and the village was the horse-drawn Inchture Tramway which was to last only another 8 years. The fact that this was ever thought a viable business proposition shows the very different economics of the Victorian era. The stations have gone, but apart from the attractive villages of Inchture and Longforgan being bypassed by what is now the A90 dual carriageway nothing much has changed. Dundee has still not encroached, with Kingoodie still detached - but only just - from the city.
