Working hard, Barclay 0-4-0ST 945/1904 lifts five 16T mineral wagons away from one of the mill buildings on the Y&D complex in 1970. After reversal the wagons will be deposited in the BR exchange sidings at the end of the Heap Bridge goods branch that led off the Bolton to Rochdale line. This little tank engine was well worn but was the preferred motive power in the mill at the time with two Peckett saddle tanks held in reserve See image 33097. The system closed soon after this photo was taken and all three locos passed into preservation. The Barclay is currently operational at Whitwell and Reepham station in Norfolk.
