The approach to Crieff from the south and east as seen in the 1957 One Inch OS map. The line to Perth had stations serving almost nothing and it had already closed to passengers. The first two stations going east were Innerpeffray and Abercairny. On the line to Gleneagles, Highlandman, again having nothing obvious to serve, was named instead after the Highland drovers who once passed this way. There must have been a reason for a mile long stretch of parallel single lines on the approach to Crieff: it seems a funny way to do it. Crown copyright 1957.
