Chicago LaSalle Street

View southwest over the concourse at LaSalle Street Station, Chicago on 23 March 2011. The former New York Central System and Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad terminal was demolished in 1981 with most services having transferred to Union Station.  The current LaSalle Street is served only by Metra commuter trains to Joliet over the former Rock Island system and, as is readily apparent, is not busy outwith rush-hour.  It's a far cry from the station which featured in the 1959 Hitchcock film, North by Northwest but at least is still served by trains.
