Saughton Junction

View west at Saughton Junction, seen through a telephoto lens, late one afternoon in March 1972. The location was still a junction at that time and the signal box still operational, although the former carriage sidings beyond the box had gone and little remained of the old goods yard off to the left. As for Saughton station, opened in 1842 (as Corstorphine) and closed in 1921, nothing remains (other than the bricked-up entrance on Saughton Road). See image 25903.
