Scene near Broughton on 21 March 2011, with the trackbed of the SB&B running across the centre of the picture. View is south towards Rachan Farm, with the village of Broughton off picture to the right. Meandering alongside the trackbed is the Holms Water, which is about to reach its confluence with the River Tweed, just visible on the far left above the line of trees. Eight miles further to the left, the river, road and railway all arrived at the town of Peebles, eastern terminus of the SB&B see image 7402. The line lost its passenger service in 1950 with complete closure east of Broughton in 1954 and the final section between Broughton and Symington in 1966.
