Kirkby Stephen East

On the Stainmore side of the old road bridge at Kirkby Stephen East the trackbed has been turned into a caravan park and all trace of the railway removed except for this goods shed now used by the site operator. After closure of the Stainmore route in 1962 trains from Appleby continued to serve a coal depot here until 1972. The station itself lies immediately beyond the old bridge, now turned into the embankment seen in this view. See image 9449.
