Summer 1969 at Lairg, with a Class 26 about to head south with the return working of the daily Inverness-Lairg freight. At the peak of rail activity after the discovery of North Sea oil and the opening of the Invergordon aluminium smelter, there were five daily freight trains on the Far North Line - one through to Wick and Thurso, one to Lairg and three to Invergordon.
