The concrete supports are are all that remains of the footbridge at this Trent Valley station (the cost of a replacement could not be justified). So the station's only train, the 07.26 weekday service to Crewe, has no 'parliamentary' equivalent service heading South. The 'Way Out' sign pointing skyward from the abandoned platform is at least as poignant as the rusty 'bus shelter'. [Additional: In its West Midlands Route Utilisation Strategy (2005) the Strategic Rail Authority called for Polesworth station to be closed, noting that each train that calls there receives on average less than one passenger!]
