Edinburgh Princes Street

A scene which had been largely silent for several months by the time this winter 1965-66 shot was taken - looking west mid-way between Princes Street station and Dalry Junction along the closed Caledonian main line in Edinburgh. The only surviving traffic was trip workings to the Morrison Street coal yard, using the tracks on the far right, which ceased just a few months later.
Part of the Scottish & Newcastle brewery complex on Fountainbridge is on the left and Dalry Junction signal box can be seen in the distance. Nowadays this view is dominated by the West Approach Road and the brewery is long gone
