[Railscot note: the signalbox is named for Pit No 4, not because there are another 3 Cronberry signalboxes. The branch ran east to Cronberry Colliery and finally on to Cronberry Moor Colliery. The junction here was re-aligned on at least one occasion, on the doubling of the line and on the opening of Cronberry Moor Colliery.]
