Preston
E3137 aka 86259 'Les Ross' in platform 4c at Preston on 18 February 2012, having hauled the Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express from Euston to Carnforth, where a pair of Black 5s took over for the run to Carlisle over Shap. After stabling at Preston until the late afternoon E3137 moved to Farington Jct to take over from the steam locomotives which had returned south over the S&C. This use of the sidings at Farington Jct by an electric locomotive is thought to have been the first for many years.
