North Wylam
Route of the Wylam Waggonway in September 2011. Opened around 1748 with wooden track: iron rails arrived in 1808; the waggonway closed in 1867. Much of the line became the Scotswood, Newburn and Wylam Railway in 1875; the line closed finally in 1968. After the track was removed in 1975, the route became part of the Hadrian's Wall Walk/Cycleway.
