Silverdale

On 21st September 1974 there were two railtours plying Furness Railway metals with steam power between Carnforth and Ravenglass. 'The White Rose' had originated in Leicester and was powered by A3 No. 4472 Flying Scotsman and Black 5 No. 44932 double heading tender to tender in the outward direction. The train was returned to Carnforth by Class 40 No. 40013 (formerly Andania), seen here just north of Silverdale station [with thanks to Vic Smith].
