Conventional wisdom tells you that Birmingham's Duddeston viaduct was built as a ploy to further the GWR's interests, and was neither completed, nor used. However, this painted message ('Bordesley cattle station GWR') tells you the truth; that sidings were laid from Bordesley station along part of the deck to accommodate cattle traffic. Part of Bordesley viaduct, which is still in use, can just be seen above the factory rooftops through the arch; while the wide variety of waste containers under the bridge demonstrates that some form of industry survives in these parts.
