Allerdene Shop Pit
NCB 0-4-0ST No. 81 (RSH 7604 of 1949) takes water at the shed on the site of Allerdene Shop pit (later Ravensworth Shop Colliery), Lamesley, Co Durham, in June 1970. The colliery stood at the foot of the Allerdene rope-hauled incline (latterly part of the Bowes system). No 81 was cut up at Springwell in October 1972 and operations here ceased the following year. The area is now covered by a retail park and the A1 Western Bypass.
