A long forgotten aspect of the railway 'parcels' business - baskets of live homing pigeons on the platform at Lllanwrtyd Wells station on the Central Wales Line in summer 1971. Pigeon fanciers would send the baskets by train, with a 50p coin attached as a tip to rail platform staff for setting the pigeons free!
