Beamish Open Air Museum

No 18 at Beamish in 1979. Built by Lewin & Co of Poole, Dorset in 1877 (works no 683), originally as a well tank, it was rebuilt as a saddle tank at the Seaham Harbour engine works in 1936. No 18 was withdrawn by the SHDC in 1969 and later moved to the collection at Beamish, following which it underwent a conversion to 'original works appearance'. The locomotive has since been rebuilt and restored as a saddle tank. See image 45409
