Dean Lane closed to rail services with the Oldham Loop in 2009. It reopened in 2012 as Newton Heath & Moston for Metrolink tram services. At this point trams are confined to a single line as the other line seen here is for container trains to and from the waste transfer facility just beyond the bridge. The old railway station platforms have been removed. Tram 3023 leaves for Oldham and Shaw, the then limit of operations until the Rochdale line reopened in 2013.
