The Alston bay at Haltwhistle looking east towards the signalbox in February 2013. The trackbed now forms an unofficial footpath around the back of the station. My last visit to Haltwhistle was in 1976 when I caught a train from this platform shortly before the Alston branch closed. On the other side of the still used waiting room is the Carlisle platform. See image 40173 for an earlier view of this spot.
