Normanton
When first introduced to service in April 1960 from Gateshead shed, EE Type 4 No. D270 would have been no stranger to class 1 work on the ECML, but by 1977 (as 40070) it was reduced to pottering about the West Riding on colliery trip workings from Healey Mills. Here it is on a Saturday morning in February of that year heading home to HM past Goose Hill Junction with just an ex-LMS brake-van in tow.
