Polton

Steel reinforced driveway. Little remains of the Esk Valley Railway terminus at Polton, Midlothian, where 3 paper mills once stood. The station closed to passengers in 1951, with the line closing completely in 1964. The station site has long been built over, although a short stretch of embedded track remains to the north of the goods yard, part of the siding that once ran to Polton Mill. View south towards the station site on 30 April 2013. See image 7418
