Appearances can be deceptive at the site of Brandon Colliery station in County Durham. The line from Durham to Bishop Auckland closed in 1964 and whilst there is a trackbed cyclepath this was not a level crossing. The railway and station were in a (now filled in) deep cutting and this was the site of an overbridge with a street level booking office and steps down to the platforms. View south west towards Bishop Auckland in November 2012. The Disused Stations website has a good photo of the station before closure.
