A relatively common sight for drivers on the A7 between Galashiels and Edinburgh these days is the tent-like white encapsulation material covering some of the 140 bridges along the Borders Railway route. Inside these covers, the work of blasting, painting, restoring and strengthening goes on in all weathers. The two examples shown here were photographed looking west from the roadside on 24 October.
