24th March 2014 saw the reopening of Holme Tunnel near Burnley after a four month closure for extensive reconstruction. The resumption of services on the Copy Pit line allowed the Preston Dock bitumen trains to revert to that route rather than travelling via Manchester Victoria as they have since November. One of the last trains to have taken the extended route arrives in Preston on a misty morning behind DBS 60024 and is seen joining the Ribble Branch to the docks.
