Gateshead Shed
The winner of the 1906 Epsom Derby 'Spearmint' is commemorated in the nameplate attached to the side of A3 Pacific 60100. The locomotive is seen here on Gateshead shed in a photograph thought to have been taken in 1962. The locomotive was based at Haymarket for most of its life, spending its twilight years at nearby St Margarets, from where it was eventually withdrawn by BR in June 1965.
