Alves Junction

North poles. Sections of the Inverness - Aberdeen line between Nairn and Inverurie represent the last significant stretches of S&T pole route extant on Network Rail, albeit they are disappearing fast. Part of the route is seen here in November 2005 at Alves, with a 158 about to pass below the A96 road bridge on its way to Aberdeen. Turning north on the right is the Hopeman branch, which now runs as far as the Roseisle maltings just beyond Coltfield.
