The first loco to pass in front of the photographer's house (the white one above the wagon bogie) after a gap of almost exactly 43 years - on 24 November 2014, 66752 waits just north of Stow station while two lengths of rail are winched off the rail laying train. While I cannot pinpoint the exact date that track was lifted here, that operation had reached milepost 27, about half a mile south of the station, on 22 November 1971, so there's a good chance that tracklifting was taking place here two days later.
