Liverpool Street

Looking out from the platform at the east end of Liverpool Street station in March 1970 as one of Stratford's Brush Type 4s no 1777 awaits its departure time with a train for Norwich. In the foreground is station pilot BTH Type 1 no D8234. The Type 1, delivered to Stratford new in 1960, was withdrawn the following March. By contrast, the Type 4, built by Brush Traction in 1964, remained in service for another 31 years, before its eventual withdrawal in 2001 as 47598.
