A northbound partially fitted freight approaches Dalmeny Junction at around 15:00 on a fine early spring afternoon in 1972 behind Gateshead based EE Type 3 No. 6763. This might be the early afternoon Millerhill to Inverness working (although if so it is either running rather late or has been retimed from what it had been a couple of years earlier). Strictly speaking, a train to Inverness should have been displaying an 8J reporting number, but more often than not in that era internal ScR freights just showed the train classification without a destination code. The appearance of a split headcode box class 37 from the north-east of England was perhaps rather unusual north of Edinburgh. Thought to have been taken in early April 1972.
