Heighington

Looking north over the level crossing at Heighington on 18 March 2015. This station is on the route of the Stockton & Darlington Railway and opened for passengers on the same day that line was opened in September 1825. The building on the right is named 'The Locomotion No.1'. [Passenger services began between Stockton and Darlington on 10/10/1825. These were extended from Darlington to Shildon in April 1826. The inn and goods/parcel depot, on the right, opened in 1827. -RS]
