Westburn Iron Foundry
The Westburn Iron Foundry, Arbroath, was established on either side of Orchard Street in buildings formerly marked as Westburn Works (Flax, hemp & co) on the 1859 OS map. This photograph shows a railway track linking two of the buildings which appears on the 1921 and later OS maps. This track is presumed to have been manually worked, linking two buildings under the same ownership, and there is no evidence of the tracks extending beyond the works. Douglas Fraser and Sons Ltd owned a number of mills in Arbroath.
