Dalzell Steel Works
DH9 between jobs at Dalzell Steelworks in 1988. This gritty location was a lunchtime favourite of mine. The line to the left ran to the extensive scrapyards between Ravenscraig (RG) and Dalzell (DL) and was also used for delivery of steel slabs from RG to DL for rolling. The locomotive is on the line which rose up to the works. Behind the camera is a reversing spur. These tracks were lifted with the closure of RG and the approach to DL from the mainline just to the south of Motherwell station brought back into use.
