Lochavullin Goods

The high level goods yard above Oban in a view looking north east. The approach to the pier can't be seen - it is in a cutting beyond the cottage seen in the foreground. There is an engine shunting at the far end of the yard.

The cattle market is to the right. The incomplete and abandoned hydro is prominent on the hillside above the town.

The building at the bottom right is the coaling canopy on one of the approach roads to the engine shed (out of shot to the right) - publisher touching up of this postcard view has converted it into what looks like a house. This was removed when the coaling plant was installed by the LMS.

This area has been redeveloped - the yard closed in 1969 (an oil siding surviving until the early 1990s) and the cattle market has been relocated further south.
